Five things about Me
Jun 20th
I have been gone for so long that it is quite possible that I no longer have even one reader but none the less I think I will work my way back in the blogging world slowly. To start off I have been tagged by my friend Marlo for a fun Fives Meme.
The rules:
1. Post the rules of the game at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3.
At the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts
their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment,
letting them know they?ve been tagged and asking them to read the
player?s blog.
4. Let the person who tagged you know when you?ve posted your answer.
What were you doing five years ago?
I was in my first year of marriage, working at Red Lobster for a short stint, and trying really hard to have another baby. I was also finishing my AA which took a gazillion years to get done.
What are five things on your to-do list for today? (the day is almost over so most of these should be on the “done” list instead)
1. Attend a water play date for the kids.
2. Go swimming.
3. Get a pedicure (traded this one up for new kids clothes that were too cute to pass up)
4. Catch up on emails
5. Go to a scrapbooking party
What are five things you would do if you were a billionaire?
1. Start savings accounts for the kids.
2. Get a personal trainer, cook, and house keeper.
3. Pay off all debt.
4. Take multiple trips around the world.
5. Become a regular contributer and volunteer for organizations like St. Judes.
What are five of your bad habits?
1. Cheating on my diet when life gets too busy (this happens daily).
2. Starting projects then waiting months to finish them.
3. Talking too much.
4. Putting off laundry til it is over flowing the laundry room.
5.
What are five places where you have lived?
1. Gardena, Calif.
2. Apple Valley, Calif.
3. Victorville, Calif.
4. (only 3 here, I’ve been in the same vicinity for 24 years).
What are five jobs you?ve had?
1. Taco Bell
2. Stater Brothers (bagger)
3. Texaco (which was actually Del Taco and A&W)
4. Waitress for a billion years (ok, so only eleven but it felt like a billion)
5. Substitute Teacher (best schedule ever)
Five people I tag:
Not really fair of me to tag anyone since I have been MIA for so long, but if you’re reading please leave me a link to your Fives Meme so I can check it out.
Another year ending
Dec 31st
Bored out of my mind, not wanting to do the dishes, and watching the Twilight Zone Marathon (even though I have almost every episode practically memorized), I decided to write my own meme to conclude 2007. I?m not going to pressure anyone into responding with a tag, but I?d love it if you felt like playing along. Without further ado, here it is.
1. What is your happiest memory of 2007?
Adding the youngest Riley to our family. She was unexpected, but made our family complete

2. What was your worst memory of 2007?
The dumb nurses who insisted I wasn?t in labor and made me go home only to end up almost having the baby in the ambulance on the way back and never getting any pain killers as a result, grrrr.
Finally reaching a point in my education where I no longer have to fall back on waitressing in times of need. Damn that feels good!
4. Did you take any memorable trips in 2007?
Two. An Anniversary Weekend away with hubby, that was everything I had hoped for, and a girls only day trip to

Don?t Blink- Kenny Chesney. A big reminder that life is short and the kids will be grown before we know it.
My Bachelors Degree. It has been many years in the making, so it?s hard to believe now that the goal line is right around the corner.
Not only did I not lose weight, but I gained, ugh
Dan in Real Life- Very Cute!
10. Did you pick up any new hobbies in 2007?
During my nesting phase of pregnancy I decided sewing was the solution to everything and bought my first machine. Included in my very few projects was this little dress for the toddler:

To all of my readers I wish you a safe a fun New Year’s Eve and A Happy New Year!!
The Experiment
Oct 20th
A friend of mine and incredible scrapbooker, Nicole, tagged me for this experiment which was originally started by Mary Demuth. “It’s an experiment to see how many degrees we can separate. How many people can one blog potentially reach?”
Here it goes:
10 years ago–1997
This was a big year for me. I was 20, waiting tables at Carrows and translating as a bi-lingual aide at a local school district. I was working 2 jobs for no clear reason, I just loved the income and was taking a brief break from school, so what the heck! I broke up with my first true love and rushed into a relationship with the next Mr. Wonderful. Months later I found out I was pregnant just before learning how NOT wonderful my boyfriend was and got a glimpse at the next adventure coming as a single parent.

20 years ago–1987
I was 10, in 5th grade and had only lived in the Desert for a year so I didn’t have many friends. During the Summers we would always drive a few hours to Kern County to water-ski, fish, swim, and camp for a week. This year in particular we celebrated my Birthday at Lake Isabella. I will never forget the camp site, it wasn’t the place we usually stayed at, but sometimes mom and dad would take us there and we would get so excited because it had a tire swing and jungle gym. I remember getting my 2 favorite outfits that year that I wore until they were rags,

30 years ago–1977
This is the year I was born so I can’t say much about what I was doing, other than eating, sleeping and pooping. I was the youngest of three, and was born in Torrance, California. I was born the year Elvis died and at the end of the disco era but still learned to appreciate the great music of the times. No pic. for this one, which is probably for the best since I did not photograph well as a baby, lol.
I am tagging Jessica the Rock Chick, and Shelly in an effort to keep this going, but totally understand if you are not interested in participating. Otherwise I look forward to reading yours.
The Nonblog Meme
Sep 13th
Hubby tagged me to participate in a meme where I list three items I enjoy more than blogging. I hope it goes without saying that I always enjoy spending time with my family, so this list will be comprised of the items I enjoy in sparse moments of “me time”.
- Paper Crafts: Including scrapbooking, card making, stamping, and making general paper gifts like calenders, mini albums etc. (mother’s day gift made by me)

- Going to the beach or the lake: I LOVE camping!

- Dates with Hubby: We average about two per year, so I definitely look forward to them.

- Photoshop: The more I learn about this software the more addicting it gets. I just learned how to perform cosmetic surgery on a photo. It is amazing!
- Literati: Every once in awhile I can sneak in a round or two of this Scrabble-like yahoo game. I’m really good if anyone ever wants to challenge me to a round
Now here are the rules if you want to play along:
- After your intro, copy/paste this line and the rules below it: The originator wants to see how far it goes so please keep his link intact: http://rileycentral.net
- Encourage people to post with the incentive of a link by including those who have passed it along here:
(Your link here and so on . . .) - Visit at least 3 on the list who?ve written and passed this meme. Leave them a comment.
I have never tagged anyone so if you see your name on the list and would rather not participate, that is totally understandable. Otherwise I would love to hear what types of non-blogging events are catching your eye.
Manic Monday
Sep 10th
Well, I am going to outdo myself here and post twice in one day. Yep, that’s right, you heard me, TWO post’s in one day. I found this Manic Monday Meme and thought it would be fun, so here it goes.
If you could “un-invent” one thing in the world so that it would no longer exist, what would you choose?
Weapons of mass destruction.
Monday morning you usually waking up thinking:
Whew, two of the messiest members of the house are gone again for most of the day. Maybe I can catch up from the weekend slop.
Do you find it easy to ask for help? Why or why not?
This is a tough one because everyone around me is equally busy and I don’t want to add to their chaos. I do find myself offering to help others out when I can, mostly because whatever they may need help with sounds like more fun than cleaning.
